Innovation Frontier (2008)

Team with: Swapnil Jadhav

Background :

There is a change happening in the business of consulting. The traditional models of management and design consulting are being questioned for their validity and cost-effectiveness.

The complaints against the current consulting models are; not delivering value for money, delivering jargon laden and non lear directives, which the clients are unable to implement, having prepackaged deliverables that aren't customized to the clients needs.

Also there is a fair amount of press about the importance of the need for innovation in all forms of business practices. The number of firms from big to small offering innovation consulting services is growing rapidly.

The project

Taking forward the work done by a number of previous workshop projects involving the innovation database (source book and exchange) and the Methods-tools wiki. This project was looking at developing a strategic plan for a new organization that will deliver innovation consulting services based on a set of core competencies from an online platform. Our research gave us a comprehensiveview of the competitive space, of the services being offered, of the lack of capabilities that existed in the market.

This project was to conceive and produce a strategic plan for a new organization that provides professional services for strategic design innovations. This service organization is to have a set of core competencies that provides unique end-user value that differentiates it from other professional service firms such as design consulting firms, management consulting firms, design schools, executive training firms, among others.

The project will conceive of innovative offerings this organization can provide based on the above core competencies. It will also focus on creating a competitive landscape and show the differentiated unique value this new organization can bring to the business context.

The project will also prototype and demonstrate how a platform unique to this organization can work through innovative offerings through websites, training workshops, publications, consulting projects, tool offerings, among others. It will also produce a strategic plan for this new organization showing its business viability and suggestions for implementation.

Did you know that "Coke" is the world's most recognized word after "Ok?"

Soda is the quintessential American beverage--a worldwide symbol of both this country's vibrancy, and the perils of the "western" diet.

This project looks to understand the consumption of soda in America.

How have American's soda drinking habits changed?

What trends can be seen in consumption?

And what does the future of the big brands hold?
